Howard Guy - CEO

"If a designer is not an optimist and a dreamer then design is not the right career for them"

Howard's fascination with design began during his childhood, inspired by the futuristic vehicles of 1960s TV show ‘Thunderbirds.' At school, art and metalwork were the highlight of his week and early exposure to fine art, graphic design, and furniture design set him on a career path designing and making.

Howard obtained a BA Honours degree in industrial design and engineering before successfully gaining a place at The Royal College of Art in London, where he went on to achieve a master’s degree in automotive design.

Howard began at Jaguar Cars in 1987 where he took concept designs through to production with engineering and the supply base. Later progressing to Principal Designer, in 1993 he established the marketing direction on the iconic Jaguar XJ6 series.

In 1997, Howard co-founded Design Q with fellow Jaguar designer Gary Doy. The establishment of Design Q was driven by their desire to push the boundaries of design, venture into uncharted territory, and adopt a more ambitious and forward-thinking approach to design.

Howard's objective at Design Q is to set his clients apart from the competition by creating products that are "bigger, faster, and sexier." This statement reflects his commitment to innovation, aesthetics, and pushing the limits of design.
